Body, Mind & Spirit
World Dance and Paneurhythmy enjoy traditional folk dances from many cultures.
We'll learn gentle meditative prayer movements, and faster "fancy" dancing, and be transformed
in a fuller spiritual connection with others and our world. This week is for
beginners as well as experienced dancers; no partner needed. Our last evening we'll
have a party with live music; Melinda Fields and friends will play the dances we've been
learning all week. Paneurhythmy, the Bulgarian meditative dance of alignment
with the cosmos, will be offered each morning on the beach. This dance is joyful
and beautiful, and works with the creative energies of the new day. You'll return
home renewed - at once grounded, centered and uplifted by the simple act of moving together in
a circle, the symbol of unity and wholeness.
Group Leader: Mara Morris has taught this program at Ferry Beach for 12 years,
and also teaches in Connecticut where she lives, in schools, dance camps, and many other
places including Paris and Shanghai. She is a dancer with a deep feel for the
beauty, joy, and prayer within the dance.
Mara is one of the first teachers in Paneurhythmy taught by the late Erna Staleva,
disciple of the Master Beinsa Douno. Erna Staleva and Antoaneta (Toni) Krushevska
have been joining Mara's event for many years to help in teaching Paneurhythmy, but
this year Erna will dance with us in spirit.
